Girl Scouts earn a badge for diversity
Who doesn’t love a Thin Mint, Short Bread, Carmel deLite or Lemonade cookie? Well, all of these cookies are sold by the historic Girl Scout organization. Recently, this organization has appointed its first African American female Judith Batty as CEO in its 108th year history.
The Girl Scout organization has been an organization that is known for fostering leadership skills in girls from kindergarten to high school. It is a girl led organization that according to their program is proven to help girls thrive in five ways:
Develop a strong sense of self.
Seek challenges and learn from setbacks.
Display positive values.
Form and maintain healthy relationships.
Identify and solve problems in the community.
The new CEO Judith Batty has been a part of the Girl Scouts for nearly 30 years. Batty was previously a senior legal counsel for the Exxon Mobil Corporation for over 28 years.
Today, I will leave you with this quote from Judith Batty:
“When I was young, the Girl Scouts instilled in me the courage, confidence and character that have guided me through my life and career. It is an incredible honor to bring those lessons back full circle to help the Girl Scouts navigate this transition.”
Be Amazing! 🍋
